Healing, Teaching, Learning and Serving in God’s Neighborhood.
Our Mission
The Bread of Healing Clinic (BOHC) is a Milwaukee-based free medical clinic for individuals with financial or other barriers to quality health care. BOHC provides comprehensive, integrated medical, dental, vision, behavioral health care, and pharmacy services in several church facilities.
BOHC commits to respect, love, and learn from the people we serve believing that the atmosphere we create reflects Jesus’ healing ministry. We believe in healing, teaching, learning and serving in God’s neighborhood.
Our Vision
The Bread of Healing Clinic (BOHC) envisions a Milwaukee community where the medically uninsured will have access to affordable, quality healthcare that leads to healthier citizens, reduces chronic conditions, lowers healthcare costs and improves overall quality of life for the community it serves.
BOHC strives to maintain wide visibility in the community and robust philanthropic support while anticipating an infrastructure consisting of modern technology, electronic health records, interconnected communication with health systems and an impeccable reputation.
OUR values
Love
We demonstrate God’s love for all by sharing hope, faith, and a generosity of spirit with those we serve, one person at a time.
Healing
We believe that God calls us to healing in every arena of human life. God calls us to repair damage to the physical and emotional health we see, but we are also called to make whole individuals who have been separated from themselves, their health, their families, their communities.
Humility
We are committed to the belief that we are all children of God, each with our own and differing fits. None of us has all the answers, and we look to each other to learn.
Inclusion
We serve all, regardless of individual faith, and we welcome all who wish to contribute their time and talents in service to this mission.
Social Justice
We work together to ensure that every person has access to the means to achieve health, recognizing that physical, emotional, social and spiritual health are intertwined and cannot be separated.
Education
We recognize the need and commit ourselves to the task of educating the next generation of health care professionals and paraprofessionals in an environment where the whole person is served and where patients have been historically underserved.
Prayer
We rely on God as the source of our power, and prayer as our communication with God.
Compassion*
Compassion literally means “to suffer together.” We share one another’s suffering and respond with healing in all that we do. We recognize the need for compassion in our world, for all of us are broken sometimes. When we recognize that brokenness in ourselves and in others, we can reach out with healing.

Strong Community Value
Aurora Health Care contracted with an independent consultant to evaluate the financial impact of the clinical and dental services provided by the Bread of Healing Clinic in 2013.
The study estimated that the care provided to 2000 uninsured patients in that year saved $4.16 to $4.64 million in health and dental care costs in Milwaukee at large at a cost of $1.35 million -- a Return on Investment (ROI) of 209% to 244%. The major sources of these savings were avoidable emergency department use, reduced hospitalizations, increased patient earnings and improved quality of life.
